Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in the first round of ATP Dubai to register his first win since losing to Quentin Halys in the semifinal of Quimper Challenger in the first week of February (four-match losing run).
Only twice in 2018, Tsitsipas has managed to win a first-round match, and on both occasions, he reached at least the quarterfinal, at Doha (lost to Thiem in QF) and Quimper Challenger (lost to Halys in SF).
The last time Tsitsipas lost a second-round match was against Tristan Lamasine at Noumea Challenger in the first week of January 2017.
