Rafael Nadal against Dustin Brown, Wimbledon second round.
One of the most popular tennis player, in the last years, would be without a doubt, Rafael Nadal. Original from Mallorca, has won the Wimbledon title back in 2008, for the first time and in 2010 for the second time. After that, the Spaniard, suffered early eliminations and in 2014 had some serious health problems, like appendicitis and wrist problems. He seems invigorated now, having recovered quite well.
After the last disappointment at Roland Garos, last month, when he was sent off in the quarter-finals, he really needs a great boost of confidence and he really needs to get back on track after this difficult period in his career. Even if it`s yet early in the tournament, we may say he started quite well the Wimbledon Championship, maybe the simple fact of stepping on to grass again, made him feel refreshed.
He did well against Thomaz Bellucci, a 27 left-handed from Brazil, who lost the match in Nadal`s favour but the game itself had an important role for Nadal, in the restoration of his confidence and winning mentality. He hopes for a more “consistent and solid” performance, he declared.
Today Nadal will meet he`s old tricky opponent, Dustin Brown, who defeated him last June in Germany, Halle. Nadal knows Brown can create him problems playing on grass, he knows it`s his favourite surface. Brown represented Jamaica till 2010, since then representing Germany. Browns strong serve and volley, worked very well till now, he`s known for his technique of “first strike”, agressive and pressuring style. This tactic has proven, in the past, to be very efficient against Nadal in the past, especially if we consider the fact that they are playing on grass.
It will be an interesting match to see, Nadal most certainly doesn`t take this encounter lightly having a strong opponent today, who created him problems in winning, in the past.
