Since then, Pliskova hasn’t been able to win a match here, losing in 2016 and 2017 to Vandeweghe and Mladenovic, respectively.
Pliskova has made a decent start to the year for a Top 10 player. She made to the Brisbane semifinal to start the year and reached her second consecutive Australian Open quarterfinal. For a brief period in 2017, Pliskova became the world #1, but she soon handed the crown to Muguruza after the US Open.

That was one of the only three semifinals Kerber reached in 2017, the others being Monterrey and Tokyo.
