PREVIEW & TIPS Filip Krajinovic vs Lucas Pouille

Another tennis pick for today is between Filip Krajinovic and Lucas Pouille, two ambitious players. The match will be played in ATP – SINGLES: Marseille (France), hard. The French Lucas Pouille has much more experience in this match.

Filip Krajinovic News

Filip Krajinovic put in an impressive performance during his straight sets win over Gilles Simon in the second round. The Serbian broke the Frenchman’s serve five times in the match that finished at 6-3 6-3.

After facing the first round exit at Doha (Peter Gojowczyk) and a second-round exit at Rotterdam earlier in 2018, Filip Krajinovic has now progressed to his first quarterfinal of the season. His previous quarterfinal match on tour came at Paris Masters in November 2017, when Rafael Nadal pulled out of the contest, handing the Serbian his maiden semifinal berth.

Filip Krajinovic played 24 matches on the indoor hard courts last season and managed to win 17 of them (17/7). During this run, he played three quarterfinal matches, lost to Jeremy Jahn at Koblenz Challenger, defeated Remi Boutillier (France) at Bergamo Challenger and Rafael Nadal at the Paris Masters (walkover).

Filip Krajinovic vs Lucas Pouille STATS

These two players met once in the first round of Karshi challenger in 2013 when the Serbian prevailed in three sets. A fully motivated Pouille can be a dangerous opponent on any conditions to any opponent but anything less than a 100% effort from him, Krajinovic is more than capable of winning it.

Lucas Pouille News

Like his opponent Filip Krajinovic, Lucas Pouille had to fight back from a set down to win his opening match of the week against the compatriot Pierre Hughes Herbert. For the second time this season (in four tournaments), the Frenchman has got a first-round bye and the last time he got an R1 bye was at ATP Montpellier earlier this month where he went on to win the title.

Comparatively, Lucas Pouille played less number of matches on the indoor hard courts in 2017 (13, Krajinovic – 24) but he won the title at Vienna in October and made the finals here at Marseille earlier in the season.
