Now it`s settled, Chile will most probably see the final this year. They won yesterday against Peru by 2-1, playing in the first round of the semifinals of Copa America. The Chileans dream may come true, they could definitely make it to actually hold the Copa America trophy this year. We all saw the determination and motivation in their performance, they would deserve it.
So now, tonight we will watch the second round and the last encounter before the final match and it`s between Argentina and Paraguay. It will happen at Estadio Municipal Alcaldesa Ester Roa Rebolledo and I`m sure it will be a thriller. The sides will meet for the second time this year`s competition, after confronting each other in the group stages and managed to draw by 2-2. This time, a draw wouldn`t do, so as we know in the quarterfinals and semifinals, if the scores are tie, the final score will be decided via penalty shootout, just like happened with Colombia and Brazil.
About Argentina we well remember that it entered this championship as favorites, as they are also ranked third world national team and first ranked squad in CONMEBOL. They have won Copa America for 14 times, after Uruguay who has won the title for 15 times, that may be the motivation of the Argentineans, to equal Uruguay`s performance.
Argentina has the “stars” who make the show, keyplayers like Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Higuain, Mascherano and Di Maria. With Lionel Messi on their componence, Argentina has lost three major titles the past few years, two times Copa America and World Cup 2014 final, so I think Messi has a heavy burden to carry throughout the last rounds of the championship. Strong players who are shining at the clubs their palying at and they should shine in the same way, here for the national team.
As for Paraguay, even if it`s not a world top ranked national football team, have shown great improvement over the last years, and this tournament they can almost be called a very big surprise. I don`t knowif someone expected so much from them as they were opening the campaign, but here they are in the semifinals, considering the fact that at World Cup, last year they were positioned somewhere at the bottom of the table. Now, during the tournament, they have shown great technique, great deffense and offense, determination, hard work and positivity.
The odds are on Argentina, they have all the necessary atributes to get passed this match, victorious.
