Bilbao didn’t impress us after five summer friendlies, still looking for their first win. The hosts recorded four draws and one defeat so far, scoring four goals and conceding five. The Basques failed to score a goal in the last two friendlies, ticking a goalless draw vs Nantes and a defeat, 0-1 to Southampton. Athletic Bilbao are clearly underdogs here, with odds around 6.00 for a win today.
The other side, Borussia Dortmund looked better this summer, but not so impressive. They recorded four wins, two draws and one defeat, struggling sometimes in defense. The Germans have scored a total of 16 goals, conceding no fewer than eight, more than one goal per game. They managed to keep only one clean sheet in seven games, winning 2-0 over Wuppertaler, a much weaker side. BVB are in pole-position here, with odds around 1.50 for a win over Athetlic Bilbao.
