Serena Williams dealt convincingly with Simona Halep in the quarter finals of the Australian Open 2021. This makes her the oldest semi-finalist in the history of the grand slam tournament in Melbourne. The 39-year-old tennis player returned aggressively against Halep and thus recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win. With this Williams took revenge for her lost final at Wimbledon 2019 against the Romanian.
Williams will play her sixth semifinal since becoming a mother. At Wimbledon and the US Open, she managed to reach finals in 2018 and 2019, but disappointingly, grand slam victories were not there at the time. The current number eleven in the world has not yet gotten into trouble at the Australian Open. Only Aryna Sabalenka managed to force the American into a three-setter.
