Danny Makkelie does not need to book a holiday to Portugal for the time being. On a visit to Serbia, the Dutch referee refused to award a goal to Cristiano Ronaldo in the absolute final phase, although it appeared in the repetition on TV that the ball had indeed passed the goal line. However, there was no VAR in Belgrade, so Portugal had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
