Serena Williams meets Venus Williams, tricky encounter between champion sisters!
It`s not always easy to get passed a game not even for the Worlds No.1 Serena Williams, a good example is the match against the british Heather Watson, ranked 59th WTA. Serena needed three whole sets to finish the game in her favour and qualify in the eight-finals at Wimbledon.
As a result, Serena Williams will meet her sister Venus Williams, in the fourth round, today, at the Wimbledon Center Court. It`s almost twenty years since the two sisters are present in the history of tennis and all this years they`ve showed us great passion and determination, interesting games filled with emotions for the fans of tennis. On the other hand we have to mention that the last few years, was Serena to taste the glory, leaving her older sister Venus, No. 16-seeded unlike Serena, No.1-seeded, in her shadow for years. There`s also the fact that Venus suffers of the autoimmune deficiency Sjogren’s Syndrome, that could have also contributed to her unsuccesful progress.
Both sisters were taught to play tennis by their own father, in California and it`s been an emotional moment seeing his daughters playing against each other,ever since. However, the two never met again, playing a match, since 2009 at this very tournament, at Wimbledon. Since U.S. Open in 2001 to 2003 Wimbledon, the sisters participated in six all-in-the-family Grand Slam finals and before this, the only major title match disputed between sisters, was at the very first Wimbledon women`s final in 1884, when Maud Watson defeated her younger sister, Lillian.
It`s a tricky, emotional and perhaps dramatic, encounter today, one would be tempted to consider Serena as the favourite, in the match today, but Venus also has great chances to get back on track.
