Shamrock Rovers facing FC Progrès Niedercorn, Europa League Qualifiers!

We have arrived at the Europa League qualifiers and for today we have FC Progres Niedercorn from Luxembourg and on the other side will see Shamrock Rovers, two teams who haven` t been very present in Europa League, in the last years, meaning 33 for Niedercorn and only 3 for the Irish team. It`s a big difference from that point of view but if we consider that both sides finished fourth in their respective domestic leagues and we`re talking about last season, it could be that both sides have equal shots to qualify in Europa League, this campaign. They`re playing tonight, the second-leg, as in the first-leg they`ve recorded a draw and it seemed to me it was a fair result.

The spot in Europa League, will be disputed at the Tallaght Stadium, in Dublin, at 20:00. The Irish have to score this time if they want to advance into the next round. In the first-leg against Niedercorn, they`ve started in a strong fashion and along the match they`ve created chances to score and maybe even win the game, but it wasn`t enough.

They`ve also created some chances for opponents either, leaving some passes loose at a certain point, surprisingly from the captain itself, Pat Cregg and some other errors or unlucky shots from the Rovers, did happened. For the match tonight, they`ve had a whole week to preapare a better approach and maybe a bit more focused. Progres instead, have got covered the second half of the game, they have returned invigorated and created some chances too, but the same story like the Rovers, the match finished by 0-0.

As for the performances of both sides, we must say Shamrock Rovers won the League of Ireland trophy for 17 times and have a history in the European competition, as domestic competition. On the other hand, Progres have only won 4 of their domestic Luxembourg Cup and is the 6th time they participate at the European qualifiers.

It will be difficult task for the visitors to play against their hosts, in Dublin, considering Shamrock is considered favourite for the match tonight, but it`s their only chance to qualify in this competition.
