Italy faces Portugal, Friendly Internationals.
Tonight Portugal and Italy will meet in Switzerland at the Stade de Geneve, it will be an end of season friendly international.
Both teams have had positive results in European Championship qualifiers and now are coming in great shape, furthermore the Italians are coming from the recent game against Croatia which they`ve managed to draw, an acceptable result, considering they have missing players like Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini, Juventus players, also forward Simone Zaza(Sassuolo).
De Conte called atacking midfielder Bonventura to join the squad for the match last Friday, as he initially was left out for the encounter in Split. Either way it was a good result as they are still two points behind Croatia, as they occupy the first place in their group with 14 points and Italy, the second place, with 12 points.
Now, if we were to talk about Portugal, after a surprising result against Albania, when they`ve lost on matchday one, they had a great comeback with four consecutive victories making their way straight on the Group I`s top, on the first place with 12 points.
Unlike Conte, Fernando Santos will have a strong line-up to chose from in this important friendly encounter. Recently there was the match against Armenia, where Cristiano Ronaldo made sure he was the star of the game and he managed to win the three points and he is obviously looking forward to win more points for his team or only victories, also against the “Azzurri” if he will be present.
The history between the two sides, is a frustrating one for Portugal, as they last managed to win a game against the four time World Cup winner, was back in 1976, when they`ve managed to score 2-1 in their favour. Since then, the Italians have won 10 matches out of 11 against the Portugals.
